WWE Releases Desmond Troy

NXT talent was the 13th WWE release on Friday

NXT performer Desmond Troy becomes the latest individual to be released from WWE, as confirmed by both himself and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful

Troy (real name Denzel Dejournette) wrote on Twitter, "Life is tough, but it’s about time I got some adversity to see what I’m made of. What a way to start the weekend. Thank you @TripleH and @WWENXT for the opportunity. There’s power in the name and with a name like Denzel Dejournette I can’t and won’t lose!"

The former Appalachian State wrestling standout was the thirteenth different individual to be released by WWE on Friday. He joins a list that includes luminaries such as Bronson Reed, Bobby Fish, Mercedes Martinez, Jake Atlas, Leon Ruff, and others.

Signed to WWE in 2018, Dejournette began working non-televised bouts in October of that year. In early 2020, Dejournette wrestled several matches for EVOLVE, working with the likes of Joe Gacy, Harlem Bravado, and others.

Dejournette also wrestled several squash matches on Raw in April 2020, losing to Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley.

Using the Troy name, Dejournette's last WWE match was taped June 29, losing to Gacy in a qualifying match for the NXT Breakout tournament.
