WWE Releases Matt Riddle

Riddle confirmed his release on social media

Matt Riddle becomes the latest release from WWE, posting the news to his Instagram.

Riddle wrote, "Just wanted to inform everyone that I’m no longer with WWE. Thank you for the memories and opportunities also thank you to all the fans for the support and love you give me every time I go out to the ring. See you all soon."

Riddle becomes the 24th known talent release over the preceding days, joining a list that includes Dolph Ziggler, Emma, Mustafa Ali, Shelton Benjamin, and many others across both the main and developmental rosters.

A former UFC competitor, Riddle entered professional wrestling in 2015, and quickly became a sensation through various notable indies. In the summer of 2018, Riddle signed a developmental deal with WWE.

Across his five years with the promotion, Riddle held the NXT Tag Team titles with Pete Dunne, Raw's Tag Team titles twice with Randy Orton, and was a one-time United States champion.

Riddle had been off television as of two weekends ago, after he accused an officer at JFK Airport of sexual assault. Law enforcement officials told the New York Post that Riddle was drunk and causing a disturbance at the airport. Riddle did not file a police report regarding the allegation, and deleted the social media post in which he publicly made the claim.

Riddle last wrestled on the September 4 episode of Raw, teaming with Drew McIntyre in a loss to The Viking Raiders on Raw.
