WWE Reportedly Release Ring Announcer Greg Hamilton

Hamilton joined WWE in 2015

WWE have reportedly parted ways with SmackDown ring announcer Greg Hamilton.

PWInsider is reporting that the promotion released the 42-year-old earlier this week, after enquiring with the company regarding Hamilton's status after he removed any reference to 'WWE' from his social media accounts and made his Twitter private.

Hamilton - real name Greg Hutson - first signed with WWE back in 2015 and was put to work on the WWE NXT brand and as an in-house host for Tough Enough tapings at Full Sail University.

In March 2016 Hamilton was 'called up' to the main roster and began working as the ring announcer for WWE Main Event and WWE Superstars. Shortly after, he would become the regular ring announcer for WWE SmackDown.

Hamilton made headlines recently after he took issue with rapper Westside Gunn, who he claims had used a sample of his voice in a song. The former SmackDown ring announcer stated on social media that WWE lawyers would be taking legal action against Gunn on his behaf, but there is no word as to whether this incident had any impact on Hamilton's departure from the company.
