WWE Reviving Payback For September PPV

WWE Payback is coming back soon

WWE are reviving one of their lesser-used pay-per-views later this year.

The company has announced that Payback will take place on Saturday, September 2 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Payback will be the first WWE pay-per-view to be held in Pittsburgh in five years.

Tickets for the event will be available through Ticketmaster from Tuesday, June 27 at 10 am ET.

September 2 will be the first Payback event since 2020. That show took place one week after SummerSlam and is primarily remembered for being the pay-per-view where Roman Reigns won a Triple Threat against The Fiend and Braun Strowman to capture the Universal Championship. Reigns has held onto the belt, which has since unified with the WWE Title into the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, ever since.

The first WWE Payback event took place back in 2013 and it was an annual event until 2017.

Payback 2023 only adds to what looks set to be a Labor Day weekend packed with pro wrestling, with All Elite Wrestling expected to run their latest edition of All Out on Sunday, September 3 in Chicago, Illinois.
