WWE Ruthless Aggression Star Set For In-Ring Return Later This Year

Their first match in five years

A retired former WWE star from the Ruthless Aggression era is set to wrestle his first match since 2018.

Brian Asbury (host of the Developmentally Speaking podcast) announced that Paul Burchill will make his return to the ring for a show in Chillicothe, Ohio on September 30.

Though 'The Ripper' is confirmed as wrestling, his opponent has yet to be named.

The British-born Burchill broke into the business in the early 2000's by competing on the UK's independent scene, before being signed to a WWE contract in 2005.

He subsequently debuted as a member of the SmackDown roster and formed a tag team with William Regal. Shortly after, the duo split up and began feuding after Burchill adopted a gimmick inspired by Johnny Depp's portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

After that had run its course, Burchill was drafted to Raw and then ECW, where he performed as a heel alongside storyline sister Katie Lea. He was released by WWE in February of 2010 and has only worked a handful of indie shows since.

Burchill currently resides in Kentucky and works as an EMT.
