WWE’s Austin Theory Wants To Retire John Cena

Could Theory send the 16-time champ pakcing?

Austin Theory is clearly being groomed for great things on WWE’s main roster, being hand-picked on screen by Vince McMahon to serve as the boss’ protege. But Theory has his sights set high, saying he’d like to retire John Cena.

The topic of Cena came up when Theory talked to Alternative Sport, with Austin asked whether he’d prefer to win the tag titles with Cena at WrestleMania, or retire the 16-time World Champion:

“That’s a tough one, man, they both sound amazing,” started Theory. “I think for Austin Theory, you’d have to really not “see” Cena anymore because I’d have to retire him. I’d have to do it man.”

Cena has only had two televised matches since the beginning of 2020, with his Hollywood career taking off in recent years due to appearances in the likes of The Suicide Squad and Fast & Furious 9.

Despite his limited wrestling appearances, Cena is still a huge draw, and the honour of officially retiring him would send any wrestler to the next level. Considering theory’s start in WWE, don’t be surprised if this one comes true.
