Back on October 18, 2019, Xavier Woods teamed with Kofi Kingston against The Revival at a house show in Sydney, Australia. During a sequence with Dash Wilder, Woods dropped down after a Back Suplex attempt and suddenly collapsed to the mat. WWE later confirmed the eight-time tag team champion suffered an Achilles tendon injury and would be out of action for up to a year.
Ten months later, Woods is still on the shelf but the UpUPDownDown host recently told D-Von on Table Talk he will be back in the ring "sooner rather than later."
The New Day member said: "I'm getting to the point where I'm feeling good. I can jump, I can run a little bit. It's not fully healed yet but I'll be right back at work we'll say sooner rather than later. I don't have a date yet."
Ahead of his eventual in-ring return, Woods will be returning to WWE TV in a non-wrestling capacity as the company announced he would be co-hosting Talking Smack alongside Kayla Braxton. He missed the debut episode, however, because WWE forgot to tell him he would be hosting the new series.
