WWE Talent Wins First Raw Singles Match In Six Years

A big win on WWE Raw for this talent

A shock win took place on the August 21 edition of Monday Night Raw.

LA Knight and The Miz have been feuding on WWE TV in recent weeks and Miz looked to score an easy win on Monday's episode of Raw when he went one-on-one with Akira Tozawa. The two-time WWE Champion dominated the in-ring action but he quickly became distracted by LA Knight, who was on commentary for the contest.

Knight's presence ultimately proved disastrous for The Miz as he taunted LA Knight while setting up for the Skull-Crushing Finale, providing Tozawa with the opportunity to roll through into a pinning predicament. The Miz then failed to kick out before the three count, handing Tozawa a surprise victory on the red brand.

The win did break an unfortunate streak for Tozawa as August 21 marked his first win on Monday Night Raw in six years since he defeated Neville (AKA PAC) for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship on the August 14, 2017 episode of Raw. This, of course, does not factor in his numerous 24/7 Title reigns on the WWE main roster.

The win was also Tozawa's first victory in a regular singles match on WWE programming since he defeated Jack Gallagher on a May 2020 episode of NXT as part of a Cruiserweight Title tournament.
