WWE Teases New Rey Mysterio Angle Ahead Of Friday Night SmackDown

WWE has teased a potential new angle involving Rey Mysterio heading into this week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown. 

The promotion have posted an article on WWE.com speculating about how potentially could have attacked Mysterio backstage last week ahead of his SmackDown Tag Team Title defence alongside son Dominik against Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. 

The initial insinuation had been that the Dirty Dawgs had taken out the former WWE champion in similar fashion to how they assaulted Dominik prior to their Championship clash at WrestleMania Backlash.

However, the article writes that "it seems highly unlikely that Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, the Mysterios’ scheduled opponents that night, carried out the attack on The Ultimate Underdog during his pre-match prayer, since both Superstars were seen in the ring mere moments later".

It therefore appears that WWE has a different assailant in mind, one that could potentially hint at a new feud for Mysterio.

Rey and Dominik are scheduled to defend the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against the recently reunited Usos on this week's show, who themselves are struggling with in-fighting with cousin and Universal champion Roman Reigns.
