WWE 'Thrilled' With The Rock

WWE very happy with The Rock

In a report that will surprise few, it has been claimed that WWE are "thrilled" with The Rock and his recent work on WWE TV.

The Rock has been back pretty much full-time on WWE programming since the beginning of the year, with a WrestleMania 40 match against Roman Reigns initially being planned. The Rock and WWE pivoted following the backlash to Dwayne Johnson replacing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania and The Rock will instead team with Roman Reigns to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of WrestleMania 40 night one on April 6.

The Rock has been part of some of the most memorable segments on WWE TV in recent years since his return, with the show-closing beatdown of Cody Rhodes on the March 25 episode of Monday Night Raw receiving unanimous praise.

Responding to a false accusation that he reported TKO wanted The Rock to follow their PG guidelines, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted TKO and WWE are actually thrilled with Dwayne Johnson.

"Probably would pay to read the actual article. I never said TKO was mad at Rock. They are in fact thrilled with him. But I did explain the process and how and why Rock can do what he wants while others are more limited. Rock was mad about a misleading post from someone else that stated something I never said," Meltzer tweeted.

Although TKO and WWE are thrilled with Dwayne Johnson, there has been some talent unhappiness over the perceived double standard of WWE talent being banned from swearing, even on social media, while The Rock can swear and curse as much as he wants. The ban was outlined in a recent memo by Nick Khan, Triple H, and Executive Vice President of Talent Dan Ventrelle and talent have argued The Rock should be following the rules and setting an example since he is a member of the TKO Board of Directors.
