WWE are looking to secure a TV deal in the United States for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, something the Mexico-based promotion has struggled to do for decades.

Speaking on K100, AAA booker Konnan revealed what WWE's end game for the Lucha Libre promotion is.

"We had a lot of bad luck getting here, but we're finally here. And (WWE's) end game is to get us a TV deal. And if that happens, sh*t's on, right? But all I've been doing is advocating Lucha, advocating Lucha, advocating Lucha. And you see what happened? And this is just a beginning. They're really invested," Konnan said.

Should WWE secure a US TV deal for AAA, this would lead to more episodic storytelling from the promotion.

"Well, they did have English commentary on Worlds Collide, so there will be more shows in the future that will have English commentary. And I think once we get our TV deals, that's when we’ll start seeing episodic storytelling," Konnan added.

It was announced during WrestleMania 41 weekend that WWE will acquire AAA, with it being revealed that WWE will own 51 per cent of the promotion, while Fillip will own the remaining 49 per cent. The acquisition is due to be completed later this year.

WWE and AAA recently co-promoted Worlds Collide, which was a widely praised show and saw the breakout of Mr. Iguana, who is in the process of signing a new deal with WWE.
