Xavier Woods Returns On WWE SmackDown

The reigning King has returned

Xavier Woods of The New Day made his return to television on Friday's edition of WWE SmackDown, after a several-month injury layoff.

Woods' partner Kofi Kingston was originally scheduled to wrestle Ridge Holland in a singles bout. However, Kingston came out and said he wouldn't be the one taking on Holland. Instead, Kingston introduced the returning Woods, who went on to defeat Holland in a brief contest.

Woods had been out of action with a torn plantaris muscle in his lower leg. His last televised match took place on January 7, teaming with Kingston to face The Usos in a street fight on SmackDown.

Woods returned to action at a WWE house show on Saturday, March 12, teaming with Kingston in a triple match for the SmackDown Tag Titles. He went on to wrestle at house shows on March 13 and 20, taking part in trios matches at each.

In recent weeks, The New Day has competed in matches opposite Sheamus, Holland, and Butch. Two weeks ago, Big E sustained a broken neck taking a ringside throw from Holland.
