Zac Efron To Star In Von Erich Family Biopic
Zac Efron will star in an upcoming biopic on the Von Erich family
Deadline have announced that Zac Efron will star in an upcoming biopic of the Von Erich wrestling family. Titled 'The Iron Claw', the film will chart the rise and fall of the Von Erichs.
Family patriarch Fritz Von Erich was a popular wrestler and then promoter of the Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling promotion. His sons Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike and Chris went into the business and were stars in WCCW and beyond.
However, all but Kevin met tragic and untimely ends.
Kerry, the most famous member of the family, wrestled for WWE as 'The Texas Tornado' and won the Intercontinental Championship. He was also a former NWA World's Heavyweight Champion, having defeated Ric Flair for the gold in 1984.
The film is being produced by A24 and will be directed by Sean Durkin, who previously helmed features such as Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Nest.
It is unknown at this point what role Efron will play and no other actors have been announced.
The Von Erich family were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.
