Created by Dusty Rhodes, WarGames began life as a spectacle during the National Wrestling Alliance's Great American Bash tours of 1987 and 1988, before the concept was finally televised with The Great American Bash 1989.
From 1991, WarGames would be a stipulation match utilised by World Championship Wrestling on an annual basis with the exception of 1999, with the match often taking place at Fall Brawl.
WCW had some great WarGames matches, and also some truly awful versions of the double steel cage match.
