Cody Rhodes Open To Facing Naomichi Marufuji

Cody Rhodes would like to wrestle Naomichi Marufuji

Although WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has faced some of the top names of the Japanese wrestling throughout his career, he has never faced off with Pro Wrestling NOAH’s ‘ace’ Noamichi Marufuji.

Marufuji is set to wrestle WWE’s AJ Styles on July 13 in the latest crossover between the two promotions, and in the build up to the match, Rhodes told NOAH’s official YouTube channel that he’d like to wrestle Marufuji at some point:

“It’s not hyperbole to say Marufuji on the other side of the ring is how important he is to modern pro wrestling and modern sports entertainment. I mean, if you hit the ropes behind another guy, you call that a ‘Marufuji.’ That’s what I do. That’s part of my comeback that I have in my own matches. The fact that I’ve never gotten in the ring with him, that’s something that could happen down the road,” said Rhodes.

Ahead of Styles vs. Marufuji, Tokyo Sports reported that more WWE stars could cross over and wrestle in a NOAH ring, with Shinsuke Nakamura the first when he faced The Great Muta in January 2023.
