Finn Balor Re-Signs With WWE

Finn Balor signs WWE contract extension

WWE have secured the contract extension of Finn Balor, who took to Twitter to announce his decision, writing:

"I would like to take this moment to say thank you to WWE for 10 incredible years. And after much thought and consideration, I have decided that now is the right time to say ‘I ain’t going nowhere!'"

WWE could well be relieved with this development, as Fightful Select have detailed that interest in Balor was thought to be high elsewhere. Their report states that while WWE were interested in signing Balor to a multi-year, big-money extension, the Irishman was also said to be on a list of upcoming free agents monitored by AEW.

Balor is currently a member of the Judgment Day stable on the Raw brand, alongside Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and current World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest.

There have been recent hints at tension within the group, with Balor frustrated at Priest’s unwillingness to regain the tag team titles they lost at WrestleMania XL. Although tensions have not yet bubbled over, it could make for a potentially big storyline in future.

Finn first signed with WWE in 2014, after an eight-year stint with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He was the inaugural holder of the Universal Championship, but had to vacate the title due to injury. Balor is also a former Intercontinental Champion, United States Champion, NXT Champion, and two-time holder of tag team gold alongside Priest.
