Ilja Dragunov Returns On WWE NXT

After a couple of months out of action, Ilja Dragunov returned on Tuesday's edition of WWE NXT, appearing on the US developmental brand for the first time in 2022. 

Dragunov made his return following JD McDonagh's win over Tyler Bate in the main event to become the number one contender for the NXT Championship. After the match, Bron Breakker entered the ring for a staredown with McDonagh that was interrupted by Dragunov. 

Breakker then held up the NXT Title as Dragunov and McDonagh looked on, signalling he would be willing to defend the belt against both men. 

Dragunov had been away from WWE since July when he vacated the NXT UK Championship due to a serious ankle injury. Dragunov won the gold back in the summer of 2021 when he defeated WALTER (now Gunther) at NXT TakeOver 36. 

Tuesday's episode of NXT was taped last week, as was the September 27 show. The main event of Halloween Havoc was made official at the taping. Find out what it will be here.
