Konnan Backtracks On Criticism Of Konosuke Takeshita
Konnan has backtracked on his earlier criticism of AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita
Konnan recently made headlines for some scathing comments about AEW’s Konosuke Takeshita, with the lucha legend taking umbrage with Takeshita using a frog splash in homage to Eddie Guerrero at a recent AEW show in Guerrero’s hometown of El Paso, Texas.
After receiving backlash for his racially charged comments, Konnan has taken to Twitter to claim it was all in jest, tweeting:
“the Takeshita thing was a joke, like im really gonna get mad over him doing a frog splash, everyone does it. if u actually believe I was hot, jokes on u..” wrote Konnan.
Konnan originally claimed that Takeshita has heat with him for his tribute, saying on the Keepin’ it 100 podcast:
“Well, Takeshita, he’s got heat with me, and he’s lucky I wasn’t in El Paso. Because when he went up, and he did the f****** Eddie Guerrero thing for the frog splash, you’re not Mexican, dude, I don’t care, stick to your nationality,” said Konnan.
Guerrero famously used the frog splash as his finisher for many years, using it as tribute to his former tag partner ‘Love Machine’ Art Barr, an American wrestler who died in 1994.
