Multiple Matches Set For First WWE NXT Of 2023
The card for the first WWE NXT of 2023 takes shape
Multiple matches have been announced for the January 3 edition of WWE NXT.
In a headline match, Apollo Crews will take on former NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes. Seeds were planted for the match last week after Crews appeared on NXT for the first time since his loss to Bron Breakker at Deadline, only to be interrupted by Hayes.
Bron Breakker will also be on the January 3 show as the special guest for the Grayson Waller Effect. The two men will face off for the NXT Championship at New Year's Evil on January 10. Waller currently has the upper hand in the feud after channelling his inner-Bret Hart and goading Bron Breakker into spearing him while he had a metal plate across his torso last week.
Other matches set for January 3 include Trick Williams vs. Axiom, Charlie Dempsey vs. Hank Walker, and an Anything Goes Match between Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. Fyre and Dawn have been feuding since Isla cost the former Kay Lee Ray the NXT Women's Championship. Dawn won their first match at NXT Deadline.
