New Japan Cup 2021 Results - March 5, 2021: Hirooki Goto Vs. Taichi, Toru Yano Vs. Bad Luck Fale

The first round continues

Day two of the New Japan Cup took place at Korakuen Hall earlier today and featured two first-round matchups. Toru Yano went one on one with Bad Luck Fale on the show while Hirooki Goto squared off with Taichi in the main event.

The five-minute bout with Yano and Bad Luck Fale featured the usual comedy spots associated with The Sublime Master Thief and Fale thought he had the match won after he tied Yano's hands to the ring post. The Rogue General crashed into the post a few moments later, though, after Yano moved out of the way of his charge. The KOPW 2021 Trophy Holder then somehow managed to make it back into the ring to pick up the win by count-out.

Hirooki Goto and Taichi then battled back and forth in a 22-minute main event. The Suzuki-gun member almost won the match late on but Goto managed to kick out and connect with GTW and GTR for the pinfall victory.

Yano will face Great-O-Khan in the second round while Goto will face the winner of Kazuchika Okada vs. Shingo Takagi.

Three multi-man tag team matches were the preliminary bouts on the show. Check out the full results below:
