Potential Shock Return For WWE Money In The Bank

A chinless wonder may be among us on Sunday in Chicago...

SPOILERS! (maybe)

We could be days away from the most unexpected return of the year at WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday.

PWInsider has learned that James Ellsworth looks to be on the brink of a return to the company after being released last November.

Allegedly, there have been several 'creative pitches' made for the master of Sweet Chin Music to appear at the pay per view in Chicago. Hopefully, none of them will repeat last year's mistake of having Ellsworth ascend the ladder to get his hands on the women's MITB briefcase - a creative decision that saw a hastily arranged rematch take place on SmackDown Live after the event.

Of course, the most likely scenario would see the 33-year-old get involved in Carmella's match with Asuka. The SmackDown Live Women's Champion puts her title on the line for a second time after defeating Charlotte - the Superstar who ended Asuka's 914 undefeated streak - at Backlash last month.

Ellsworth made his WWE debut in the summer of 2016 in a squash match against Braun Strowman on Raw. A fantastic little promo, including a wonderfully endearing catchphrase, saw James impress a number of people backstage which in turn saw him eventually signed to a full-time deal by the company.

Involved in the peak of SmackDown Live since the latest brand extension alongside the likes of AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose, James is famous for holding no less than three victories over the current WWE Champion.

Since leaving WWE, Ellsworth has hit the headlines as a shock contender for Nick Aldis' NWA Worlds Championship, while also debuting an Intergender Championship of his own.
