Ricky Starks Bar Fight Allegations Update

Update on allegations of Ricky Starks being involved in a bar fight

Ricky Starks found himself at the centre of a meme storm on Tuesday night following a claim on Reddit that Starks got "absolutely hammered" at a Calgary bar following his Owen Hart Foundation Tournament win in 2023 and ended up being taken away in a police car after starting a bar fight. It was also alleged that AEW CEO Tony Khan had to take care of the issue personally and it is part of the reason why Starks won't be in Calgary for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final this year.

In an update, however, Fightful Select has reported that numerous sources within All Elite Wrestling have denied ever hearing about such an incident and others have claimed the alleged incident "didn't occur whatsoever." Ricky Starks himself has stated he was never in any legal trouble in Canada.

Fightful noted that while the incident may have still taken place, "everyone alleged of involvement denied it directly to us." Nothing ended up being filed about any alleged incident and Starks has had no issues entering Canada since the Summer of 2023, having wrestled in London, Ontario as part of the AEW World Tag Team Title Tournament when he teamed with Big Bill against Top Flight on March 31.

That match remains Starks' most recent appearance on AEW TV. Big Bill and Ricky Starks were originally planned to win the match but the finish was changed as a precaution after it appeared Starks sustained an injury. Starks didn't suffer a major injury, though, and he has since stated that he has no idea why he hasn't been brought back to AEW TV.
