Report: Alberto El Patron's Trial Postponed Again

Alberto El Patron's (real name José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan) trial has been postponed again, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider. The former WWE and IMPACT World Champion was due to stand trial earlier this week on May 3, but proceedings have been pushed back to Monday, August 2.

This is the second time the trial has been delayed. It was originally scheduled to begin in January but it was postponed until May in a last-minute ruling. Why the trial was pushed back again is currently unknown. 

El Patron was indicted by a grand jury on four counts of sexual assault and one count of aggravated kidnapping back in October 2020. 

This followed his arrest in May. The police report noted the female accuser told authorities that Chucuan had kidnapped, sexually assaulted and assaulted her over a 16-hour period. El Patron also allegedly threatened to drop the woman's son "in the middle of the road somewhere" if she refused to wear a dress and dance for him. 

The female accuser issued an apology to El Patron's family back in November, but nothing has changed in regards to the trial and the court will reconvene in August. If found guilty of aggravated kidnapping of the first degree, Del Rio could face up to 99 years in prison.
