Report: Backstage News On WWE Raw Releases References

WWE's releases over the past 18 months were referenced on Monday's episode of Raw, with Liv Morgan claiming Ruby Riott and Sarah Logan had been let go by WWE because of Becky Lynch and her "big, fat, greedy contract." 

Edge then followed with his own reference to the recent releases, claiming The Miz had left John Morrison "high and dry to get fired" so he could appear on Dancing With The Stars.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Liv Morgan's line likely came from Vince McMahon or another member of the WWE creative team. That likely isn't the case for Edge, though, as the WWE Hall Of Famer has freedom with his promos and he likely wrote the line to add an edge and realism to his segment with The Miz. 

Many fans found the references distasteful and several individuals within the industry, including a current WWE star also thought the releases being used on Raw was in bad taste.

WWE has held several rounds of cuts since WrestleMania 36 in April 2020 and 81 wrestlers have been let go in 2021 alone.
