Report: Further Details On Cody Rhodes' AEW Departure

No more Cody in AEW

Further details have emerged about Cody and Brandi Rhodes' departures from All Elite Wrestling.

Following reports that Cody possibly joining WWE was a topic backstage at Monday Night Raw, Tony Khan announced The American Nightmare and Brandi had departed the company

It previously emerged in January that Cody's AEW contract expired in December of 2021.

In an update on the situation, Fightful Select reported Cody and Brandi left the promotion after both sides failed to come to terms on new contracts. Cody was reportedly after a "big money deal" and it was believed by Friday night that the three-time TNT Champion would be departing the company.

Cody had to deal with inquiries following this but he claimed they were "spun."

WWE officials knew an announcement from both Cody and AEW would be coming today and The American Nightmare and WWE have at the very least held talks.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast also noted WWE and "Cody's camp" have been in contact.

Cody and Brandi were founding members of AEW with Tony Khan, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. Cody was also an Executive Vice President while Brandi was the company's Chief Brand Officer.
