Report: IMPACT Wrestling Make Major Backstage Signing

IMPACT have made a key signing for a backstage role

IMPACT Wrestling have made a major signing by hiring a former standout WWE employee for a backstage role.

PWInsider reported that IMPACT have brought in Lou D'Angeli to head up the company's marketing going forward, as well as undertaking additional duties behind the scenes. He has signed a full-time contract for an executive position, having been brought in as a consultant several months ago.

The report noted that D'Angeli has been working at recent IMPACT tapings.

D'Angeli got his start in the business in Extreme Championship Wrestling during the 90s, where he worked in front of the camera as Sign Guy Dudley and backstage as a promoter/publicist.

Post-ECW he worked for various independent promotions, before joining WWE's marketing department, where he rose through the ranks to become Director of Promotions & Event Marketing. He was one of the major execs behind the WrestleMania AXXESS fan festival.

Outside of wrestling, D'Angeli has worked for Comcast-Spectator, Logitix and Cirque du Soleil. In the latter company, he worked as Vice-President of Marketing, Sales & Public Relations (Resident Shows Division, North America).

He is credited with helping to shepherd the Cirque du Soleil brand out of bankruptcy, which had been brought on due to an inability to tour owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Needless to say, this is being viewed as a key hire within IMPACT Wrestling.
