Report: Lars Sullivan Comments On His WWE Release

He was let go by the company in January

It emerged last night that Lars Sullivan had been quietly released by WWE sometime in January. The former SmackDown Superstar's last appearance on TV was back on November 6, 2020.

Fightful Select reached out to Sullivan following his release and Lars confirmed he had been let go by WWE. He admitted he was surprised the company hadn't made an announcement about his departure, but he put it down to WWE being nice and said they handled his departure with "compassion and honesty."

Sullivan told WWE he was finished with wrestling after fighting "crippling" anxiety issues. The former SmackDown Superstar noted he would often struggle to eat at TV tapings and had trouble sleeping.

Sullivan said he was his own worst enemy and called some of his actions "idiocy" and "his own selfish behavior." The loss of his father also only added to what was a difficult 2019 for the former WWE Superstar.

Lars told Fightful he was likely done with professional wrestling but he was grateful to have wrestled in WWE. He also reiterated that he was treated well by WWE management and the locker room and his departure wasn't caused by bullying.
