Report: NXT Women's Championship Match at TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Had Time Cut

An earlier match on Night One reportedly overran

Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez put on a worthy NXT TakeOver main event to close TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Night One, with the show ending with Gonzalez winning the NXT Women's Championship from Shirai.

The physical, high-tempo match was a fitting end to a great evening of wrestling by the black-and-gold brand but, according to Fightful Select, the match was supposed to have even longer.

They report that Shirai and Gonzalez's main event match had to be adjusted for time after a previous outing on the card ran long. This meant the NXT Women's Championship match saw its time reduced late on.

Normally, NXT does not have to worry about this issue when it comes to TakeOvers, as they traditionally have never had a hard cut time on the WWE Network. However, with Night One of Stand & Deliver featuring on USA Network in NXT's usual television slot, the action was required to fit into the usual two-hour program.

There should be no such issue with Night Two, on Thursday, with the event exclusively airing on Peacock and the WWE Network.
