Report: Update On Cesaro's WWE Status

Following reports that his contract expires after WrestleMania 37

Cesaro's WWE future appeared to be uncertain earlier this week after reports noted The Swiss Cyborg's contract expires shortly after WrestleMania 37.

Cesaro won't be going anywhere, though, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer. The former United States Champion signed or verbally agreed to a new deal with WWE a few weeks ago.

Meltzer also noted that Cesaro's previously expiring contract affected the Number One Contender's Gauntlet Match on the January 8 episode of SmackDown. The Swiss Superman was initially chosen to run the gauntlet before being attacked by Roman Reigns, but the spot went to Shinsuke Nakamura because Cesaro had yet to sign on the dotted line.

Cesaro first signed with WWE back in September 2011 and debuted on the main roster a little while later in April 2012. He has won multiple championships during his time with the company and is a former United States Champion and seven-time WWE Tag Team Champion. He was also the inaugural winner of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30.
