Report: Why Jim Cornette's Racist Remark Wasn't Initially Edited Out Of NWA Powerrr Revealed

Episode had to be edited and re-uploaded...

During episode seven of NWA Powerrr, commentator Jim Cornette made a racist remark.

During a non-title match between NWA Worlds Champion Nick Aldis and Trevor Murdoch, Cornette said Murdoch was: “The only man I’ve ever known that could strap a bucket of fried chicken on his back and drive a motor scooter across Ethiopia.”

Consequently, Cornette resigned from his role on Wednesday.

However, questions still remained as to how the line even made it into the edited broadcast.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has heard from a source close to the situation that NWA Vice President David Lagana, who edits all episodes, was simply exhausted: "According to one person very close to the situation, Lagana held himself accountable for his mistake in not editing the line out. This was blamed on simply exhaustion. But it was also noted that there have been other lines said on the NWA shows that Lagana has edited out that would also qualify as poor taste stuff.

"The real issue as far as the NWA was concerned was that Cornette refused to apologize."

Meltzer also added that NWA forced Cornette to resign because he refused to apologise for the comment.
