Rey Fenix Cancels Indie Booking In September

Rey Fenix has cancelled a booking amidst WWE rumours

There has been a lot of talk in recent weeks of the Lucha Bros pairing of Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo leaving AEW and heading over to WWE, with this being their expected destination following the end of the AEW contracts. It was even reported by Fightful Select that the AEW duo had already told those around them that they were going to WWE, despite still being under contract with AEW.

More rumblings of Fenix and Penta going to WWE have emerged, as the El Paso based New Era Wrestling announced that Fenix would no longer be competing in his planned appearance at the show, citing personal reasons.

“Rey Fenix will be unable to participate in our lucha libre event on September 27th due to personal circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as it is beyond our control. However, we remain committed to delivering the finest lucha libre experience in El Paso. We assure you of this promise.”

This could indicate that Fenix & Penta could be on their way to WWE by then, though the details of these “personal circumstances” are currently unknown.
