Tiffany Stratton Wins WWE NXT Women's Title At Battleground

Tiffany Stratton is the new WWE NXT Women's Champion

18 months on from her WWE in-ring debut and Tiffany Stratton has reached the top of the mountain in NXT.

Sunday night's NXT Battleground special saw Stratton take on Lyra Valkyria in the final of the NXT Women's Title tournament. Valkyria entered the match with a storyline knee injury after she was attacked by Cora Jade on the May 23 edition of NXT TV and the issue caused Valkyria problems throughout the match.

Valkyria did connect with her Roundhouse Kick finisher down the stretch but Stratton got her foot on the bottom rope. Stratton then fired back and connected with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to defeat Valkryia and win the NXT Women's Championship.

Stratton made it to the final following wins over Gigi Dolin and former NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez. Valkyria defeated Kiana James and Cora Jade.

The NXT Women's Title was made vacant after Indi Hartwell was called up to Monday Night Raw during the WWE Draft. The former champion has since linked back up with Dexter Lumis, Johnny Gargano, and Candice LeRae on the main roster.
