Update On WWE SmackDown's Christmas, New Years Broadcasts

They both fall on Fridays...

New reports have emerged regarding how WWE SmackDown's forthcoming Christmas and New Year's Day episodes will be handled, since both holidays fall on a Friday.

An update from Post Wrestling claims that the New Year's night episode of SmackDown will be held live that Friday night at the Tropicana Field version of Thunderdome.

Meanwhile, it was previously reported by Inside the Ropes that the Christmas night show will be taped sometime in advance, also from the Thunderdome.

Traditionally, WWE records their broadcasts ahead of time in order to accommodate however Christmas fits into the schedule. However, WWE did run a rare live episode of Raw on Christmas night in 2017 from Chicago.

There haven't any reported taping changes in store for either Raw or NXT over the upcoming stretch.

AEW, meanwhile, has one alteration coming up, though it's unrelated to the holiday. They will run a taped episode of Dynamite on Wednesday, December 23, airing in a later time slot, due to the NBA's season opening Boston Celtics/Milwaukee Bucks game airing earlier that night on TNT.
