WWE Files Trademark For 'Queen Of The Ring'
The news comes after it was reported WWE were considering reviving the King of the Ring as a singular show
WWE have filed a trademark for the term 'Queen of the Ring'.
The company filed for the trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on October 28.
WWE revived the King of the Ring tournament concept last year, holding a female version called the 'Queen's Crown' tournament in conjunction with it.
Zelina Vega won the inaugural Queen's Crown tournament, beating Doudrop in the final at Crown Jewel 2021. The tournament was heavily criticised for its booking, especially the fact that the first six matches were all allocated three minutes or less.
It was recently reported that WWE were considering bringing back the King of the Ring as a premium live event concept, with a Queen of the Ring tournament to run alongside the men's version.
The last time WWE held a standalone King of the Ring show was in 2002, when the tournament was won by Brock Lesnar. WWE did air a special on the WWE Network for the semi-finals and final of the 2015 version, which was won by Bad News Barrett.
