WWE Officially Announce Damian Priest Vs. Gunther For SummerSlam 2024
The World Heavyweight Championship match at SummerSlam is now official
Damian Priest successfully escaped with the World Heavyweight Championship once again at the Money In The Bank 2024 premium live event, defeating Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins in an impromptu triple threat match following McIntyre’s Money In The Bank cash-in. Interference from CM Punk helped Priest gain an advantage, much like he did at the 2024 Clash At The Castle event last month.
After Priest’s victory last night, WWE wasted little time in officially announcing the World Heavyweight Championship match for SummerSlam 2024, which will see Priest defend his gold against Gunther. “The Ring General” earned a guaranteed world title match at SummerSlam thanks to his victory in the King Of The Ring tournament. With Money In The Bank out of the way, the match for SummerSlam can now be made official.
Based on this, it does not look as though Priest will be defending his championship prior to SummerSlam, which is a month away, taking place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Cleveland Browns Stadium on August 3. Bayley will also be in action at SummerSlam, defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Queen Of The Ring winner Nia Jax.
