CM Punk Ruins Drew McIntyre's WWE Money In The Bank Cash-In, Helps Damian Priest Retain
Drew McIntyre fails in WWE Money in the Bank cash-in after CM Punk gets involved
Jul 7, 2024
CM Punk's campaign against Drew McIntyre winning the World Heavyweight Championship continued at WWE Money in the Bank.
Only an hour after he won the men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Drew McIntyre cashed in the briefcase during Damian Priest vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title. McIntyre looked to have the match won as he hit both Rollins and Priest with Claymores.
Before McIntyre could make a cover, though, CM Punk made his way through the crowd and battered McIntyre around the ringside area, choking him with cables and hitting him over and over again with a steel chair. McIntyre managed to stumble back into the ring, only to be hit with the World Heavyweight Title belt by Punk.
One South of Heaven later from Priest allowed him to pin McIntyre and retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre have been feuding for months ever since Punk suffered a torn triceps in the Royal Rumble following a Futureshock DDT from McIntyre. Punk has since cost McIntyre the World Heavyweight Title three times, first at WrestleMania before he did so again at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland and at Money in the Bank.
McIntyre "quit" WWE following Clash at the Castle, only to return a few days later and take out Punk in his hometown of Chicago. Punk hadn't appeared on-screen since then until he showed up at Money in the Bank.
According to reports, Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk is planned for SummerSlam, although Punk was as of last word still "touch-and-go" to be ready for the August 3 pay-per-view.
