AEW Backstage Reaction To William Regal's Exit Revealed

How did the AEW locker room react to William Regal's departure?

After less than a year with the promotion, William Regal will leave All Elite Wrestling at the end of 2022 ahead of a return to WWE as a coach, Tony Khan announced on Wednesday.

Regal's future was determined in October after Tony Khan agreed to not renew his contract at the end of the year, and it has been much discussed behind the scenes, with Saraya revealing the backstage reaction to The Gentleman Villain's exit to Metro.

"Everyone has an opinion on that. The reality is, it doesn't have anything to do with anything backstage, it's to do with how he feels. Us behind the scenes know why, and we're happy for him! Whether he's going there or whatever, it doesn't matter. We're just happy with whatever he wants to do with his life. He's at the age where he can do whatever he wants to without the internet deep diving into it, or everyone saying this, that and the other about him. Who cares? Let him be happy!" Saraya said.

While he is on his way out, AEW aired a backstage interview with Regal on Dynamite that was taped two weeks ago. The Blackpool Combat Club leader told the faction they didn't need him anymore before he revealed he turned on Jon Moxley at Full Gear to teach him one final lesson. Regal then said he would be Blackpool Combat Club until the day he dies.
