Cody Rhodes Returns To WWE At WrestleMania 38

Who would've ever guessed?

It was seemingly the worst kept secret in wrestling, but the payoff came at WrestleMania 38 on Saturday night in Dallas.

Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE at the event, revealed as Seth Rollins' mystery opponent.

Rhodes ended up winning the match, pinning Rollins after three Cross Rhodes.

On Tuesday, February 15, Rhodes posted a message to social media, revealing that he was leaving AEW, after failure to come to terms on a new deal with the company.

Rhodes' last match in AEW took place on January 26, in which he lost his AEW TNT title to interim titleholder Sammy Guevara in a ladder match on an episode of Dynamite.

After a seven year main roster run, Rhodes last appeared for WWE in 2016. Shortly before the Extreme Rules pay-per-view that year, Rhodes asked for (and received) his release from the company. Since then, Rhodes won championships in New Japan, NWA, and Ring of Honor. Rhodes also held the AEW TNT title on three occasions, and was the belt's inaugural champion in May 2020.
