Edge Excited by Each Potential WWE WrestleMania 37 Title Storyline

The Rated R Superstar Has 'An Embarrassment Of Riches' To Choose From...

WWE Royal Rumble 2021 winner Edge is excited by the potential storyline that awaits him, no matter his choice of opponent at WrestleMania 37.

By claiming victory at the annual Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royal last weekend, The Rated R Superstar secured his place in a title match of his choosing at 'Mania and will now be able to face either Smackdown's Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, Raw's Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, or Finn Bálor for the NXT Championship.

All three would be a dream-match the likes of which WWE fans could only dream about just over a year ago, and the Hall Of Famer can see the potential in each of the stories he could tell with either Reigns, McIntyre or Bálor.

Speaking on Corey Graves' After The Bell Podcast, Edge said: “It’s an embarrassment of riches. I look at the champions and think 'Oh My God! Oh, what I could tell with Drew, oh what I could tell with Balor, oh what I could with Reigns.'

"It’s really exciting. I look at all three of those talents and I love what they’re doing. I love the level they’re on and I love the cylinders they are firing on all in different ways. Completely different ways.

"I look at a Drew McIntyre and the type of story. It’s about respect, it’s about taking a similar road. It's about the fact that when I was World Champion, Drew was trying to find his way and I tried to help him through some of those times. Leaving and coming back and fighting through all of these things, and respecting the man he’s become. So there’s that story.

"Then, there’s a guy like [Finn] Bálor, who I’ve never laid hands on. Never been in the same place at the same time and I see what he’s doing in the ring and the way he’s wrestling and the things that he's... he's making everything earned and you’ve got to fight to get it. In terms of a match, that’s extremely appealing because that’s the type of wrestling I want to do.

"I want to go back to Nick Bockwinkel, and Terry Funk and All Japan, with a modern twist. And he's a guy who is doing that, and I told him that after NXT TakeOver in Portland with Johnny Gargano. Each time I see him, it's ever more prevalent.

"Then I look at [Roman] Reigns and I truly look at this generational thing. This guy who is finally allowed to be what he is. The handcuffs are off. Everyone realized we need to let him do what he can do. He is like Randy [Orton] in that when you get those second and third generation talents, they do things that they don’t even know, it’s just instinctual because it’s in their DNA. They don't have to think about it.

"I see Reigns, I see the layers with [Paul] Heyman, and with what they're doing. It’s such a great character that has so much real to it. That’s exciting to me. Then you start looking at the parallels. He used to come in through the crowd. He was in a three-man group. He uses the Spear."

Edge is yet to officially confirm which WWE Champion he will face at WrestleMania 37, but reports indicate he will go up against The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, in the main event at Raymond James Stadium in April.
