Gunther Vs. Sheamus Added To WWE Clash At The Castle

For the Intercontinental title

Gunther will defend his Intercontinental title at Clash at the Castle in two weeks time against Sheamus.

Shemaus earned the title shot by winning a five way match on Friday's SmackDown, defeating Ricochet, Sami Zayn, Madcap Moss, and Happy Corbin. Late in the match, Zayn (who had been taken to the back after injuring his shoulder earlier in the bout) returned to the ring and managed to hit Ricochet with the Helluva kick. Corbin broke up the ensuing pin, posted Zayn at ringside, and tried to pin Ricochet himself, only to be hit with Sheamus' Brogue kick and pinned.

Gunther has reigned as Intercontinental champion since June 10, when he defeated Ricochet for the title.

The current card for WWE Clash at the Castle, taking place Saturday, September 3 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, is as follows:

* Undisputed WWE Universal: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

* SmackDown Women's: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

* WWE Intercontinental: Gunther (c) vs. Sheamus

* Bianca Belair, Asuka, and Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky

* Riddle vs. Seth Rollins
