Jerry Lawler Breaks Silence On His WWE Deal Expiring

Jerry Lawler discusses the expiration of his WWE deal

Reports this week stated that WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler was no longer signed with the company under a full-time deal, with subsequent reports stating the legendary ‘King of Memphis’ was still part of the company under a WWE Legends deal instead.

Lawler was asked about his status during a conversation with PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, with Lawler revealing that his run in WWE is indeed over:

"One other thing that a lot of people wonder about, my career has probably ended with the WWE and that's it's just one of those things that goes with my getting over with all the stuff that happened with the stroke and it was my, my just sitting behind a desk and doing it commentating on a match again was the extremely difficult," said Lawler.

Lawler enjoyed several stints with WWE dating back to 1992, with his run on commentary alongside Jim Ross in the vaunted Attitude Era one of the greatest announcing teams in professional wrestling history. The Memphis legend has been dealing with health issues for several years, suffering a stroke in 2018, before a second ‘major’ stroke in 2023. Lawler also suffered a heart attack during a live episode of WWE Raw in 2012.
