LA Knight Wins Million Dollar Title At NXT TakeOver: In Your House

The reactivated belt has a new champion

LA Knight is the new Million Dollar champion, after defeating Cameron Grimes in a ladder match during Sunday night's NXT TakeOver: In Your House at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando.

For the finish, Grimes was climbing up the ladder, only for Knight to grab the bottom of the other end and tilt it backwards, causing Grimes to fall off, landing on the ramp. Knight then made his own climb to retrieve the glass case that held the belt.

The Million Dollar title was reintroduced on the June 8 episode of NXT, by Ted Dibiase himself. He announced he would put the belt up in a ladder match between Grimes (with whom Dibiase's had a finance-based rivalry) and Knight.

Knight becomes the fifth different man to hold the Million Dollar championship. Dibiase technically reigned twice as an active wrestler with the belt he personally introduced in 1989, ceding it briefly to Virgil in 1991. Steve Austin (as "The Ringmaster") as Ted Dibiase Jr also held the championship, after it was personally bestowed upon them by Dibiase himself (in 1995 and 2010, respectively).
