NXT Announces Great American Bash For July 6

The former PPV is back once again

For the second consecutive year, the Great American Bash is being put to use as an NXT special.

During Sunday night's TakeOver: In Your House, it was announced that NXT Great American Bash would take place on Tuesday night, July 6, on the USA Network.

NXT held the Great American Bash name as a two-week special in July of 2020. Notable matches included Io Shirai defeating Sasha Banks, Dexter Lumis defeating Roderick Strong in a strap match, and North American champion Keith Lee defeating NXT champion Adam Cole in a title vs. title match.

Great American Bash originally began as an event for Jim Crockett Promotions, with the first card being held in July 1985 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. It went on the become the catch-all name for a summer series of house, as well as a WCW pay-per-view held every June or July.

After purchasing WCW's intellectual properties in 2001, WWE began using the Bash name in 2004 as a monthly pay-per-view. Prior to 2020, its last use came in 2012 for a special live episode of SmackDown.
