Next Week's WWE SmackDown Airing On Fox Sports 1

Due to the World Series...

As was the case one year ago, next week's episode of WWE SmackDown will be moved from the FOX Network to cable channel Fox Sports 1, in order to accommodate the World Series.

Friday night, October 23 will be the third game of the 2020 World Series. Assuming there are no issues of any kind that somehow push the World Series beyond its scheduled dates, that will be the only Friday affected by the Series, as the best-of-seven would not go past Wednesday, October 28.

Next week's SmackDown is the go-home show for Hell in a Cell on Sunday, October 25. SmackDown brand matches presently scheduled for the pay-per-view include Universal champion Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso, and Women's champion Bayley vs. Sasha Banks. Both matches take will place inside the titular structure.

Last year as well, Game 3 of the World Series necessitated a move for SmackDown to FS1. The move ultimately ended up making headlines, as SmackDown's one-week switch to cable resulted in the program (which averages more than two million viewers a week on FOX) pulling in a mere 888,000 viewers.
