Orange Cassidy To Make NJPW Debut Due To Eddie Kingston Injury

Orange Cassidy will wrestle at NJPW Collision in Philadelphia

Orange Cassidy will make his New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut proper later this month.

NJPW have announced that Eddie Kingston is dealing with an undisclosed injury and he won't be able to compete in his scheduled match against Gabriel Kidd on Sunday, April 17 at Collision in Philadelphia. Replacing The Mad King is Orange Cassidy, who will now defend his AEW International Championship against Gabriel Kidd.

Cassidy, of course, first has to successfully defend his title against Buddy Matthews on the Wednesday, April 12 edition of AEW Dynamite.

Cassidy has previously wrestled for NJPW but it was at the joint AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in June 2022. The King of Sloth Style was featured in a banger on that show as he unsuccessfully challenged Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

Along with a variety of tag matches, the tournament to crown the next challenger for Kenny Omega's IWGP United States Heavyweight Title will begin at Collision in Philadelphia when Lance Archer goes one-on-one with Juice Robinson. The victor will face the winner of Will Ospreay vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi from Resurgence on May 21. The two winners will clash at Dominion for the right to face Kenny Omega, likely at Forbidden Door II in late June.
