Report: John Cena Films WWE Segment With Austin Theory

Could Cena and Theory be set to work with each other in the future?

WWE may be moving ahead with plans to do something between John Cena and Austin Theory, according to a recent report.

Fightful Select noted that WWE had at least planned to film something between Cena and Theory while Cena was in for the December 30, 2022 episode of SmackDown.

The report added that the WWE United States Champion was originally scheduled to be in Toronto that night for a non-televised live event. Per the report, Theory was scheduled to main event that show (opposite Seth Rollins in a steel cage match).

However, Theory was pulled from that booking and instead travelled to Tampa, Florida in order to film a segment with Cena. It is unknown whether the segment was for digital, future use or for something like 2K, but the segment was filmed.

Fightful further added that it could confirm previous reports of a loose plan for Cena to face Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39, but that they weren't sure if that was the case a couple of months later.

Theory has been open about his desire to work with Cena, previously stating that he wished to 'retire' the former 16-time world champion.
