Report: Kenny Omega Said He Wouldn't Have Hired 8 Out Of 10 People In The Room At AEW Talent Meeting

The line received a mixed reaction

Further details on what Kenny Omega said at an AEW talent meeting before the August 24 edition of Dynamite have emerged.

At the time, it was noted that Tony Khan, Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks, and Omega spoke at the meeting as the promotion looked to address recent backstage tension and discuss WWE allegedly reaching out to talent. It was previously noted that Omega was "harder" on talent and his speech received a mixed reaction.

The whole of Omega's speech remains unclear but a report from Voices of Wrestling and confirmed by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed The Best Bout Machine said he wouldn't have hired eight out of 10 people in the room.

The line generated a mixed reaction within the promotion, Meltzer noted, with some saying that Omega was being comedic and said the line just to mess with Will Ospreay, while others didn't like the line and believed he was being serious. Many also reportedly laughed at Omega's comments and several told Meltzer the line was "totally misinterpreted and taken out of context."

Omega mentioned that the locker room was more positive at the start of the company too but the reaction to that comment is unknown.

The former AEW World Champion is currently away from the promotion due to his suspension for being involved in a backstage fight with The Young Bucks, CM Punk, and Ace Steel after All Out. His long-term AEW future is unclear while a third party investigates what exactly happened.
