Report: Kenny Omega Worked AEW Full Gear With Shoulder Injury

Working through the injuries

Kenny Omega worked his AEW World Championship Match at Full Gear on Saturday, November 13 with an injured shoulder it has been revealed.

Omega defended the AEW World Title against Hangman Page at the pay-per-view, dropping the title to The Anxious Millennial Cowboy, and Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Omega was struggling to lift weights because of the shoulder injury.

"I don't know if he has no strength. but he can't lift heavy weights with them - I don't even know if he can lift with them. The last time we were talking about it, he said he was able to lift the bar. So it's 45 pounds... He's told me, 'I can work a match without my shoulders,'" Meltzer said.

Omega noted back in late 2020 that he was wrestling with a torn labrum but he was working with AEW's head trainer Bryce Ready to avoid surgery.

The injury has continued to bother him, though, and The Best Bout Machine revealed during a chiropractic adjustment with Dr. Beau Hightower that he struggles to raise his arm straight. Omega noted the adjustment did help, however.

"Yeah, I mean, one thing that I can say is I have a lot of difficulty just doing a straight side [arm] raise because of my shoulder injury. I would have to really sort of deviate to [a diagonal raise] to do anything. So to be able to go perfectly sideways is great. That was great. Yeah, my range of motion for looking is great. My neck is feeling good."

Omega has dealt with a range of injuries in 2021 and the former AEW World Champion underwent a stem cell treatment earlier this year which "made a world of difference."
