Report: No AEW Crossover To Take Place At WWE Royal Rumble

No AEW talent in the Rumble

While IMPACT Wrestling and WWE were able to work out a deal for Knockouts Champion and former WWE Women's Champion Mickie James to step through the forbidden door and enter the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble, fans seemingly shouldn't expect All Elite Wrestling to have a presence at the January 29th WWE pay-per-view.

According to a report from Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, 'there will be no AEW involvement at the Royal Rumble', nor will former AEW and WWE World Champion Jon Moxley be in action at the event.

Meltzer's report follows a tweet from WrestleVotes on January 10 which noted WWE would potentially try for an "unexpected" entrant for the Men's Royal Rumble that would see a talent step through the forbidden door.

WWE's new willingness to work with other promotions marks a drastic change for Vince McMahon's company as they had previously largely remained aloof from pursuing working relationships with other major companies in recent years.

WWE began to interact more with other promotions in 2021, though, and Vince McMahon's company held talks with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and MLW about forming working relationships, although no deals were ever finalised.
