Report: No Final Decision On Roman Reigns' Next WWE Universal Title Defence

Roman Reigns may not defend the WWE Universal Title until the end of July

Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar to unify the WWE and Universal Championships 61 days ago at WrestleMania 38 but The Tribal Chief has still yet to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Title.

WWE's original plan was for Reigns to put the gold on the line against Riddle at Money In the Bank on July 2 before title defences against Randy Orton at SummerSlam on July 31 and Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle on September 3. The WWE Universal Champion's status for Money In The Bank was 'up in the air' last week, however, after WWE moved the pay-per-view from Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium to the smaller MGM Grand Garden Arena.

One week on, WWE have still yet to make a final decision on when Reigns' will actually defend the WWE Universal Championship, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The company are still considering whether to have Reigns wrestle at Money In The Bank as originally planned or to wait until SummerSlam.

If Reigns does defend the gold at Money In The Bank, Riddle is now unlikely to be his opponent. As of midweek, according to Meltzer, Riddle was scheduled to team with Shinsuke Nakamura against The Usos in an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match at the July 2 pay-per-view. Riddle and Nakamura earned a title shot on Monday's episode of Raw in a DQ win over Jey and Jimmy.
